FAT, BLACK, AND NATURAL

Fat, Black, and Natural. Pretty much describes me. May not sound too good to some, ugly almost. To me, it is a way for me to identify myself and who I am.

I was born into the African American heritage...never to look back. As if I had a choice. Even if I did, I wouldn't change it for a second.

Fat, Phat, Big, Plus Size, Chubby, Chunky, etc...all are words that describes me as far as my weight. Size 20-24 in pants. XL-3X tops. It just depends. I am a big girl. Thighs, hips, STOMACH, arms...I have it all. Plus more!

Natural (as in my hair) is the state of my hair. Manipulated not by chemicals. Kinks, coils, knots, everything. I started this journey a little over two years ago and I have not turned back yet.

Being FBN in America and in my community is not always easy, but I manage to get up everyday and smile. Self love is the best love right. There are people who make fun of me and have negative things to say. Along with the negativity, there is a bright side which I have totally embraced. I get plenty of compliments from strangers. Along with the compliments, there are some who just stare. I get questions on my hair all the time. Ladies often ask where my clothes or accessories are from and how can they get them. On the other hand, people watch me at the all you can eat buffet to see how much food I fix.

Like I said before, there is a negative side to being me. As with anything in the world today. I have decided not to let the negativity get to me. Instead, I focus on the good. I feed off of it every day. Love you for you. Everyone else will learn to do the same.
